Trump Picks Martinez to Head FMCSA

On September 26th, President Trump officially nominated Raymond P. Martinez as Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). The announcement was officially posted on the White House official website.

FMCSA Notes

It's certainly easy to see why Trump nominated him. A fellow Republican, Martinez currently works for the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, where he sits as Chairman and Chief Administrator. He is also a member of the New Jersey State Planning Commission.

Martinez has a lengthy tenure within the state of New Jersey, under Chris Christie's administration. He joined the Motor Vehicles Commission in February 2010, which is shortly after Christie came into office. Martinez has also served under three Republican presidents: Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush.

The U.S. Senate must now confirm Martinez into his new FMCSA role. That confirmation should take place shortly.
